Okay, so there’s no way I’m giving up Diet Coke – it’s not even up for discussion. And, I really do like chocolate, so, that stays, too. Despite the astronomic degree of good intentions, a new year resolution is almost always impossible to fulfill. We set ourselves up for disappointment, failure even – and this is after we deprive ourselves of things we normally love for a series of miserable days. Why do we do this? Why not improve our joy? So, with that spirit I decided that this year my resolution would be to eat better.
By better I don’t mean salad. I don’t mean carb-deprivation. I don’t mean no butter. I mean, better. I mean, new foods, more elaborate recipes that typically yield a more elaborate, delicious gourmet meal. More dinners that don’t come from a box. More time in the kitchen. More time at the table, instead of on the arm of the sofa with reality TV numbing my mind.
So, I am creatiung a list, and it’s short now, but I’ll add to it. The list will consist of things I want to try (to make), things Drin wants to try (to eat), and things that we think might impress company, so we can draw our friends into our home, feed them, and love them, mind, body, and soul.
