Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread Cookies
           from Ginger Betty’s

4 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1/4 cup hot water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine all ingredients except water.
Add enough water to make the dough come together.
Roll dough out to 1/4 inch think.
Cut out shapes.
Bake on parchment paper lined sheets in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
Allow to cool completely before decorating.

Decorate with Royal Icing.
