1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups (1 bag) chocolate chips
1 sleeve (40) Saltines
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a 15×10-inch jelly roll pan or a 12×17-inch cookie sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Lay a flat layer of Saltines out on the foil.
Melt the sugar and butter until a boil is reached.
Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 to 6 minutes (or until thickened and sugar is completely melted)
Pour this mixture over the Saltines and spread to coat evenly.
Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until toffee is bubbly.
Remove from oven and allow to rest for 3 to 5 minutes.
Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips; let them soften and melt; spread them into an even layer.
You can now add nuts, cracker crumbs, candies, or whatever (I like to add salt flakes)
Break into pieces.
